American rapper Jay-Z is being linked with a sensational takeover attempt of a Premier League club.
The 54-year-old, who can stake a genuine claim to being the greatest rapper of all time, is also a hugely successful businessman.
The musician, real name Shawn Carter, has amassed an estimated fortune of around £2bn thanks to his music career, sponsorship deals and investments.
He is a well-known sports fan and founded management firm Roc Nation Sports in 2013, while he also previously owned a stake in NBA team the Brooklyn Nets before selling it that same year.
Jay-Z is also a keen football fan and has previously revealed himself to be an Arsenal supporter.
“When Thierry Henry was at the club I saw him play and I just thought he was an amazing player,” Jay-Z said back in 2010.
“Ever since then I have been a big fan of the club, following you guys, and still today you play the beautiful football that Thierry did. I think he had a real long term-effect on the team.”
At the time, Jay-Z left the door open for potential investment in a Premier League club.
“I am a businessman, and I will always look at an opportunity, and if it feels right, great,” he added.
“I don’t know a lot about the business of soccer, but in the future if the right opportunity presented itself, then who knows?”
That time may have just arrived, with American billionaire John Textor keen to bring the rapper on board in his takeover attempt of Everton.
The US businessman, 58, has contacted several possible partners to help him buy the Premier League club including Jay-Z, according to The Sun.
Last week, Textor revealed there has been “progress” in his bid to buy Farhad Moshiri’s majority stake of the Toffees.

However, Textor must sell his 45 per cent stake in Crystal Palace to meet Premier League rules.
The Sun claim Jay-Z “may be open” to joining Textor’s bid to buy Everton, who are set to move into their new state-of-the-art Bramley-Moore Dock stadium next season.
But it remains to be seen what division the club will be in at that point, with Sean Dyche’s side rooted to the bottom of the Premier League.
They have lost all four games this season including another crushing 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday. Everton have the chance to bounce back quickly against Southampton in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
