Anthony Gordon has surprised fans with his pick for the toughest away ground to play at.
The winger has been in the Premier League for a number of years now and enjoyed his most productive season to date last time out when he scored 10 goals and registered 10 assists for Newcastle.
The former Everton man has been heavily linked with a move to boyhood club Liverpool, who are believed to be interested in bringing him back to Merseyside.
And while he’s praised the Anfield atmosphere before, Gordon has a different choice for the most difficult ground to play at in the Premier League.
In a new interview with Fubo, the Magpies star believes a trip to Arsenal is the toughest test the English top flight can throw up.
He replied: “As an away player, St James’, no question about it. But for me being a Newcastle player, I would say the Emirates.”
Gordon, who spent time in the Liverpool academy before being released, named Steven Gerrard as his footballing idol growing up but picked his former manager Frank Lampard ahead of him in the age-old debate central midfield debate.
Gordon was also asked which player he would sign for Newcastle if given the opportunity and had absolutely no hesitation in his decision.
He went for Kevin De Bruyne, believing he would thriving playing alongside the Belgian playmaker.
“I’d have to go Kevin De Bruyne,” he replied.
“I think I’d get a lot more one-on-one chances just from his special ability to play through passes.”
Gordon did however give another Liverpool-related answer when he named Mo Salah as the best player he has come up against in his career.
The 23-year-old answered: “Directly against, I would say [Achraf] Hakimi for PSG. He was definitely the best right-back but on the pitch I’d probably say Mo Salah.”
