Liverpool fans have been divided by one decision Arne Slot for their pre-season friendly against Arsenal.
On Wednesday night, Liverpool and Arsenal faced off at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania as both teams’ pre-season tour of the United States continued.
Three goals came in the first half as Mohamed Salah and Fabio Carvalho gave Liverpool a two-goal lead before Kai Havertz halved the deficit.
Eventually, Slot’s men came away 2-1 winners and ended Arsenal’s unbeaten run in pre-season.
Despite the good performance and victory over one of their Premier League rivals, Liverpool fans were left debating over one decision Slot made.
The Dutchman deployed Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai in a deeper no.6 role against Arsenal, dropping Wataru Endo onto the bench.
Szoboszlai was eventually taken off in the 72nd minute, replaced by Stefan Bajcetic.
Reacting to Slot’s decision to move Szoboszlai further back, one fan said: “Szoboszlai looks REALLY good at #6….Really, really, really natural…”
Another tweeted: “Szoboszlai as a no.6?? we try everything in this club but not to spend money.”
A third fan added: “Szoboszlai in the 6 looks brilliant.”

Someone else argued: “Why would you waste his attacking qualities by playing him deeper? We need a DM, I don’t want to see Macca or Dom wasted by playing deeper.”
A fifth commented: “Definitely not a CDM..it would be an absolute waste of quality.”
Another fan said: “Not a CDM, his best work in this System is at the 8. No option. We should get that Technical 6 in.”
According to journalist Bence Bocsak, Szoboszlai could be a genuine option for the defensive midfield role having played there during his youth career.
He wrote on social media: “Still think #LFC need a CDM. However, Dominik Szoboszlai is a genuine option for that role. He won the most tackles (2) on the pitch vs Arsenal last night.
“Completed 94% of his passes as well. He plays a lot deeper for Hungary, too. Used to play as a CDM in his youth days as well.”
