Fans think they have worked out what Andre Onana said to Erling Haaland during the Community Shield penalty shootout.
On Saturday Manchester City beat Manchester United on penalties at Wembley to win the Community Shield for the first time since 2019.
United appeared to be heading for victory when Alejandro Garnacho cut inside from the right wing and fired a low shot past Ederson.
Despite being the better side in the second half, City pegged their neighbours back in the 89th minute when Bernardo Silva headed home Oscar Bobb’s brilliant cross.
With the score locked at 1-1, City prevailed 7-6 in the penalty shootout.
United took control early on the in the shootout, with Andre Onana saving from Silva and Erik ten Hag’s side scoring their first three efforts.
The momentum swung in City’s favour though when Ederson tipped Jadon Sancho’s penalty onto the post, before Jonny Evans blasted his effort over the bar to allow Manuel Akanji to score the winner.
As expected, Erling Haaland coolly converted his penalty for City. The Norwegian star is one of the best penalty takers around, but that didn’t stop Onana from doing his best to put the striker off.
The United goalkeeper stood to the left hand-side of his goal and invited Haaland to place his kick into the right corner.
Fans on X noticed that Onana appeared to be shouting “big man” at the 24-year-old, but it made little difference.
Haaland smiled before rolling the ball to the left as Onana dived the other way.
Haaland shot the goalkeeper a cheeky grin as he walked away, but in fairness to the striker he was good-natured about it.
City goalkeeper Ederson was also one of City’s scorers, and after the match, Pep Guardiola spoke about his penalty prowess.
“He’s our best penalty taker that we have, alongside Erling [Haaland] and Kevin [De Bruyne]! All three are the best penalty takers that we have,” the City boss told ITV.
